How to

1. In a spray, put a tablespoon of baking soda.

2. Add three tablespoons of olive oil.

3. Pour 300 ml of water into the spray.

4. Shake to mix the ingredients well.

5. Spray the leaves and stems of plants infested with aphids.

Remember to spray well the top, but also the underside of the leaves. Because aphids often hide under the leaves.

Why does it work?

Thanks to its texture, olive oil has the power to suffocate small insects such as aphids.

That's why olive oil is essential, because it comes into direct contact with these nasty critters.

As for the bicarbonate, it cleans the contaminated leaves and overcomes any aphid larvae.

Remember to pour this mixture on the soil around the affected plants.

It works for all plants and flowers, such as roses, geraniums, hibiscus, ivy, tomatoes, strawberries, cherries, rhubarb, bay leaves, lavender, mint, chives or basil.

Additional advice

One of the best ways to get rid of aphids naturally is the ladybug which is its worst enemy.

Wet and then hot weather favors the outbreak of aphids and the arrival of diseases such as powdery mildew, mildew...

If we can't do anything against the vagaries of the weather, we can be vigilant and track down the slightest sign of illness!

You can also avoid watering during the day when it is too hot. I advise you to water rather at nightfall.
