Catastrophe! Did you spill a glass of wine on your white carpet?
Don't panic.
Here is a trick to remove red wine stains easily.
As unbelievable as it may sound, all you need to do is apply shaving foam to the rug or carpet:
1. Apply some shaving foam directly to the port wine stain.
2. Spread the foam well with the back of a spoon so that it penetrates well.
3. Leave on for 5 min.
4. Take a clean cloth soaked in warm water to remove the shaving foam. Rub well if needed.
5. Once all the shaving foam has been removed, blot the mat with a dry towel.
6. Allow the rug to air dry.
There you go, your carpet is saved :-)
The shaving foam will absorb and release the port wine stain. If the stain is not completely gone, repeat the operation.
This trick works just as well on a stain that has just been done, or a stain that has already dried.
