1. Washing at 60°C with white vinegar

Like any device in contact with water, the risk of scaling is very frequent.

And a scaled-up washing machine is a washing machine that inevitably breaks down after a while.

So if, like me, you live in a region with very hard water, apply this tip to anticipate any failure.

Every 3 months, do a vacuum wash at 60°C with white vinegar .

This process dissolves the scale that settles as you use your machine.

Check out the trick here.

2. A high temperature wash

The most frequent washes are those carried out at low temperature at 30 or 40°C.

If these washing cycles are to be preferred, because they are more economical, they are also those where bacteria proliferate and become embedded the most!

So if your drum is starting to repress a little unhealthy smells, it's time to take matters into your own hands.

To get rid of these annoying odors and the micro-organisms present, there's nothing like doing a few high-temperature machines.

For example, you can take the opportunity to wash your sheets, tea towels or bath towels and launch programs at 60 or 90°C .

Do this regularly, it kills all bacteria.

3. Do not put too much detergent

We all mistakenly believe that putting more detergent makes the laundry cleaner.

This is not only false, but it is also not without consequences!

More detergent =more effort for your washing machine to rinse laundry.

If there are traces of detergent that remain on your clothes, it is even probably because of this!

Too much detergent is also a risk of making your washing machine foam abundantly during the wash cycle.

The drum can then overflow and this creates leaks.

Finally, using too much detergent can promote the development of bad odors and mould.

The surplus stagnates in the drum which favors the development of micro-organisms.

We therefore advise you to respect the dosages indicated by the manufacturer or to use detergent in pods.

4. Do not put too much laundry in the drum

Like everyone else, when dirty clothes start to pile up, we tend to fill the machine's drum to the brim.

However, an overloaded washing machine can create what is called an "unbalanced" effect.

Some of the laundry filled with water will stick to one side of the drum and this creates an imbalance, especially during the spin cycle.

Result:your machine moves or even moves by itself and your laundry is not properly washed.

This is especially true, if you load your machine with lots of terry towels for example.

It is therefore necessary to fill the washing machine correctly for an optimal result.

Do you want to know my little trick to know if the drum is not too full?

When you have put the laundry in the drum, press your hand on it to pack everything down and wait a few seconds for it to rise.

Once done, put your hand vertically between the top of the laundry pile and the top seal of the drum.

If your hand goes through smoothly, your machine is correctly loaded and there is not too much laundry in it.

5. Regularly clean the drain filter

We do not necessarily think about it and yet, the filter of the washing machine is one of the essential components for the proper functioning of the device.

Without it, small things like shirt buttons or filaments of fabric could reach the impeller of the drain pump...

...or to the water drainage system.

So remember to inspect this filter once every 6 months minimum and clean it if necessary.

It must be clean and free from impurities.

Check out the trick here.

6. Leave the machine open to avoid mold

To prevent mold and bacteria from proliferating in your washing machine, there is a very simple trick.

Just let the drum of the machine breathe by opening the door.

Also remember to open the detergent drawer.

These places that are closed and humid favor the expansion of micro-organisms responsible for bad odors.

So be sure to air it out after each wash!

Check out the trick here.

7. Clean the door seal

Do you know what a "cuff" is on a washing machine?

It is the slightly wavy gasket that keeps the drum well sealed from the outside.

The problem is that the hollows of this joint get dirty very quickly.

Why ? This is because of deposits from water, laundry and lye.

It is therefore necessary to take care of them and clean them regularly .

Why ? Because otherwise you will see black spots appear and persistent bad odors.

So wash the interstices well so as not to let mold and bacteria germinate.

Find out how here.

8. Clean the detergent drawer

It tends to be overlooked and yet the laundry tub, where you put all the washing products, is also a place to be pampered.

This little bin is prey to product residues that stagnate in the compartments and you know what happens!

Humidity + residues + enclosed space =appearance of mold and bacteria.

So a little daily cleaning won't hurt!

The easiest way to wash your detergent drawer is to put it in the dishwasher using the hottest program.
