Top Water Saving Tricks You Should Know.

On the occasion of World Water Day which takes place on March 22, come take a tour of the best tips for saving water. Be careful, saving water does not mean depriving yourself of water, it means adopting a whole panoply of tricks so as not to make it flow unnecessarily. Come, I'll take you for a little visit to Monsieur Bursar's house.

1. Mister E's bathroom

When we think of water in a home, we often think first of the bathroom. So yes of course, we don't let the water run while brushing our teeth and we can pee in the shower of course! But there are other tricks that we think less about.

Monsieur Econome already favors showers over baths. And more technically, he invested in a shower stop, a hand shower and a thermostatic mixer. But that's not all before taking a shower and while waiting for the water to warm up, he collects the cold water in a bucket to water his plants or for the next washing of the floor.

Before shaving to please Mrs. E., he first fills his sink a little so that he doesn't have to let the water run. He can still rinse his razor.

2. Mister E's WC

Monsieur Econome knows it well, the toilets are one of the biggest water consumers in the house. Never mind, he chose a dual-flow flush for his throne. And to save even more, he hid a bottle filled with water in his tank.

But Mr. E. is not yet completely satisfied and plans to install dry toilets very soon.

3. Mister E's kitchen

As for the sink, M.E. invested in a non-flow faucet to save 50% water. He never forgets to reuse the water from cooking, washing vegetables or the bottoms of the water carafe for his plants or for his dishwashing tray.

Its dishwasher, like the other household appliances in the house, are class A to ensure that they are the least water-consuming appliances possible.

4. Mister E's garden and garage

If you have read the beginning of the article, you have therefore understood that to water his plants M.E. does not use running water directly but collects it. To be sure not to run out of water and because the plants largely prefer rainwater, he also set up rainwater recovery tanks.

Moreover, it will not bother to water if the weather forecast predicts rain the next day (unless it is in the middle of summer of course). He will water his garden rather in the evening to be sure that his garden "hydrates" as much as possible.

M.E. also remembers to hoe the soil in his garden from time to time to prevent the soil from piling up after too frequent watering.

5. The latest advice from Mister E

Collected rainwater can also be used to wash your car, bicycles or anything you need to wash that does not necessarily require running water.

Saving water also means tracking down leaks and the limescale that is often the cause. It is better to spend a little time obediently maintaining your home and preventing leaks than to naively wait for problems to arise.

Savings Achieved

In France on average, each person consumes about 150 liters of water per day, the equivalent of a bathtub full of water. At 2 cents per liter of water, a little calculation and we arrive at 136€ per person and per year of water consumed.

Think about it by reusing running water or recovering rainwater, you can surely manage to save at least 30L per day and per person and gain around €30 per year and per person .
