Making Your Own Shoe Polish is Possible!

Commercial polishes are expensive and not always very effective or pleasant to use. use.

So how about a good old-fashioned shoe polish, to make yourself?

If you feel like it, here is my recipe.

Not very complicated to prepare, it is magical and you will soon not be able to do without it. Watch:

Ingredients

- 75 g of beeswax

- 25 g of white beeswax

- 60 cl of turpentine

- 25 g soap flakes

- 15 g of essential oil of your choice (orange, lemon, grapefruit, lavender, for example)

- 60 cl of boiling water

How to

1. In the bain-marie , mix the waxes and turpentine over low heat (and especially not directly in a saucepan because these ingredients are flammable and the bain-marie is a safe cooking method in this case).

2. Meanwhile, pour your soap flakes into the boiling water and mix until the soap is completely dissolved in the water.

3. When the water/soap mixture has cooled, add it to the melted waxes and stir well to form an emulsion .

4. Pour in your essential oils and stir to obtain a well homogeneous mixture .

5. Fill a bottle (the mixture is liquid enough for you to use this kind of container) that you will close very carefully so that your mixture does not evaporate . You can keep it for several months, like real shoe polish.

You will use a very dry and soft cloth or even an old sock to put that homemade shoe polish on your leather shoes :the result is perfect, and it smells good too!

Don't forget to recap the bottle after each use.
