8 Tips to use fabric softener

Of course, fabric softener is primarily designed to make your laundry nice and soft. But did you know that you can also do many other things with it? That's why I'm sharing 8 tips for using fabric softener.

What is fabric softener?

Fabric softener is a special agent that you add to the laundry after running the usual washing program. This means that the laundry feels smoother and in most cases also smells wonderful. Fabric softener contains cationic surfactants that neutralize certain substances on the laundry. Perfume added to fabric softener provides the fragrance.

8 Tips for using fabric softener

Below you will find tips for using fabric softener not only for laundry, but also for a burnt pan and cleaning wood.

1. Clean burnt pans with fabric softener

Sometimes pans are so burnt that you can hardly do anything with them. If nothing seems to help you can try the following trick. Fill a bucket or sink with lukewarm water. Add a tablespoon of fabric softener to this. Let the pan soak in this overnight. The next day you can clean the pan more easily with a sponge.

2. Clean wooden furniture, walls and baseboards with fabric softener

If, like me, you have wooden furniture at home, you can use fabric softener as a cleaning agent. Be careful and use only a few drops of fabric softener. The advantage is that the furniture, walls and baseboards are not only cleaned. It also makes the house smell wonderful.

3. Remove stickers without problems

You probably know it:you want to remove stickers, but that doesn't work the way you want. Or a sticky layer remains behind. Don't worry, do you want to remove stickers next time? Just use fabric softener. Dissolve fabric softener in water in a ratio of 50:50. Ideal for removing stickers from cars and glass.

4. Removing water stains in the bathroom

Water spots in the bathroom are caused by too much lime. You often have to use (heavy) chemical agents to remove this. However, special means are unnecessary, because fabric softener does the trick. To remove water stains, use a solution of ½ water and ½ fabric softener. Mix this in a spray bottle (plant sprayer) and spray this mixture on the tap and shower wall. Let it soak in for a while and rub it over with a sponge. Rinse and your stains will be gone.

5. Fresh touch up for curtains and fabric furniture

Sometimes it's just necessary to give curtains, your fabric sofa and ottoman a pick-me-up. This is perfectly possible if you use fabric softener for this. To do this, mix a ½ teaspoon of baking soda with a dash of fabric softener and water. Put this in a spray bottle and freshen up your furniture and curtains with it.

6. Untangle doll hair

There is nothing more annoying than doll hair that is completely tangled. Fortunately, fabric softener helps. Soak the doll's hair for a few minutes in a solution of lukewarm water with a little fabric softener added. Let it soak for a few minutes. Then comb the hair out. Just rinse with water and the doll has soft and especially tangle-free hair.

7. Make a new carpet softer

Fabric softener not only makes clothes softer, that also applies to a new carpet or carpet. Mix hot water with a little fabric softener and spray it on your new rug. Let it retract for a while. Then go over it with a steamer. Don't forget the latter, especially if you have children or animals.

8. Make your own mosquito repellent

Mosquitoes and gnats are very annoying. Fortunately, you can get rid of it in a fairly simple way. How? Just with fabric softener. With a little fabric softener with baking soda. Use this as a mosquito repellant (prefer not to spray it on your bare skin, as it remains a chemical product. You can use this on your clothing and, for example, on the mosquito net.
