Works:Fixing a Leaking Toilet Flush

First stage of work:open the tank

To start, turn off the water supply by turning on the shut-off valve in your toilet. Press the flush button to drain the water remaining in the tank. Then move on to unscrewing the push button. Finally, remove the lid from the tank:now you can easily see what is causing the water leak. The possible causes are very numerous, but most often it is a problem with the seal, float or valve. The work to be carried out differs greatly depending on the case.

Leaking flush due to a joint

Water flowing both outside and inside the bowl normally means that the gasket at the bottom of the tank needs to be changed. Installing a new joint is not a problem in itself:it is only a small unforeseen event that can easily be managed on its own. But before putting it down, you must first unscrew the tank, then the flush mechanism (you will need an adjustable wrench). Then just put everything back together correctly. Nothing insurmountable, especially if you are used to doing jobs like grouting tiles or insulating your windows.

Leaking flush due to a valve or float problem

If the water is constantly flowing inside your bowl, the water leak may be coming from the bottom valve. The latter is often too scaled up to fulfill its function well:pour white vinegar on it and wait for it to dissolve the limestone. Leak problem solved! On the other hand, if the valve is very damaged, the only solution is to change it...

Another scenario:the water is constantly flowing through the overflow pipe. This water leak is normally due to an incorrectly adjusted float. Just manipulate his arm to return the float to a normal position. On the other hand, if your flushing problem is due to a punctured float, you must dismantle the float and replace it with a new one.
