The Dutch give their housing accident an average of 7.5. This is more than sufficient, according to research by vtwonen. Happiness is in small things:a tidy house, a house with an outside and also the people we live with. But almost everyone (98%) wants it to be slightly different from the neighbors. We like color more than white and simplicity even more.

The Dutch like to combine different living styles. That makes you happier than one lifestyle. We prefer to buy rather than get started ourselves and are happier with new than with second-hand for our house. Beautiful makes happier than practical and we prefer budget over design. We prefer to furnish ourselves rather than on the basis of interior advice. And then slightly different from the neighbors.

Although we become happier with few things, 30% confess that they can't get rid of anything as a living sin. 24% hide junk and 15% leave it swinging. The main obstacle to housing unhappiness is money (72%). Other barriers are time (29%), too much junk (23%) and too little space (22%). That doesn't stop us from dreaming. More than half like to watch living programs on TV or collect living ideas via Pinterest (49%). Almost 40% like to look inside someone else's house. Only a small 10% think they have a better taste than another.

The best place in the house is our living room. 76% call this space a favorite. We like to make room there for personal items, home accessories and a vase with flowers. As said, happiness is in small things.
