The pros and cons of living in the center

If you are planning to move, you should first ask yourself in which part of the city (or village) you want to live. Do you like peace and quiet or do you prefer the bustle of the city? And if you are such a city person:what are the advantages of living in the center? Here you will find various reasons why many people find it wonderful or disgusting to live in the center.

We'll start with the cons
We admit it, there are also quite a few drawbacks to living in the center. For example, parking is often quite expensive, if you have a parking space at all. It is often busier and noisier on the street. The chance of having a large garden is also less likely if you live in the center. But the funny thing is that most people who live in the center simply accept these disadvantages.

The biggest disadvantage of living in a city center that nobody likes is the high price per square meter that is often paid for a home in a city center. This high price per m2 results in a relatively more expensive home and therefore a higher mortgage if you compare it with a home that is not located in a city center. The average monthly mortgage payments of a house in a center will therefore often be higher than those of the same house outside a center.

And now the benefits
An advantage of living in the center is that everything is close by. At least, if you're talking about shops, terraces and restaurants. You only have to go out the door and you are literally in the middle of the lively city. All kinds of practical matters are often close by as well. The dentist, the doctor, the gym:it can all be reached within a few seconds.

There is a lot to see
Do you know that in the summer you sit on the terrace and enjoy all the people walking by? Look at that guy over there with the way too wide upper arms and that girl over there with the crazy blue hair. Hey, isn't that Moniek with her new boyfriend? Oh no, here comes that annoying neighbor, I'll just look the other way! Those who live in the city can experience this every day. If you want to. And you don't even have to sit on the terrace for it.

You are not being watched as much
And by this we don't mean all the people who can watch you on the terraces. But the social control that you often have in the village, for example, is just a little further away in the center of the city. Here you can (if you wish) go through life anonymously. And you don't have to answer to your family or your neighbors if your new free-range has stayed with you.
