How to Make a Bohemian Tassel Crown

Introduction

A simple garland wrapped in twine is the perfect canvas to display colorful tassels. Use as many tassels as you like and incorporate a color palette to match your style.

Make the tassels

Gently pull 6 to 8 inches of embroidery floss and cut it off the skein. Cut the piece in half and tie around each end of the skein. Tie a knot, wrap it around a few more times to create a nice tie, and tie again with another knot.

Cut the skein in half

Make sure both ends are well wrapped. Trim ends if necessary. Cut the skein in the center to create two tassels.

Wrapping a crown shape with cotton thread

To do this quickly, take an 8 foot length of rope and fold it in half before wrapping. Secure the string to the form with double-sided tape. Once the entire shape is covered, add additional yarn to areas that are thinner to emphasize texture and reduce bald spots. Tie in knots to secure at the back of the wreath and trim off excess pieces.

Cut small pieces of string to attach tassels to the crown shape. Knot around the top of the tassel, then use the excess to wrap around the form.

Braid three pieces of twine into a rope and glue it to the top of the wreath. We added a bell and a little gold ribbon for a touch of Christmas cheer.
