Start by placing the yarn through the hoop to create the warp. This warp is what you will be weaving. Tie the thread in a tight knot, but you may also need tape to keep the thread from slipping.

Start dividing the hoop into equal sections using the yarn. First cut the hoop in half and then cut that half in half creating an X on the hoop.

Continue dividing the sections evenly. How many sections you have is a matter of preference. Now the hula hoop is a loom.

Once you've created your warp, it's time to start weaving using your weft. The weft is the thread you will be weaving with. In this case, both the warp and the weft are of the same type of yarn.

Starting in the center, start weaving the yarn over and under the warp. When you get back to where you started, you should alternate and be weaving under where you went over earlier.

Cover the top and bottom of your cushion with the fabrics. Using the extra thread from the knots connect the two pieces in the center.
