Sand the desktop surface until smooth.
Remove accessories, then apply base coat with a 6 1/2" seamless foam roller, then let dry.
Paint the hardware with silver paint.
Mix several drops of purple and black dye in a half a painter's bucket of liquid latex gloss.
Apply the polish in small sections, then wipe off with a cheese cloth.
Apply polish to the hardware.
After the polish is dry, put the hardware back on.
