Prepare the "ribbon"

Measure out a length of toilet paper. If the planting row will be narrow and straight, cut the toilet paper in half lengthwise.

Mark seed spacing

Check the seed packet to find out how far apart the seeds should be sown, then use a marker or pen to mark each spot where a seed will go.
Next, add a dot of glue to each mark.

Paste the seeds

Pour the seeds onto a plate, then spread them out a bit to make them easier to pick up. Using tweezers (or little fingers), pick up a seed and place it on one of the glue dots. Continue until you have placed seeds on all of the glue dots. Let dry completely.

Save your seed tape

Once the seed tape is dry, you can roll it back up in the cardboard toilet paper tube and store it in a cool, dry place until you are ready to plant.

Planting tips

To plant, place the seed tape on the surface of the soil, weighing it down with a rock or stone to keep it from being moved by the wind. Cover with soil to the depth recommended on the seed packet. Firm the soil to make sure there is good seed-to-soil contact.
Water with a fine nozzle to avoid washing the soil. Keep the soil moist until seedlings appear. If you start seeds indoors, you may want to cover the container with plastic wrap to encourage germination.
