Ribbon Flower Accents

Materials and tools:

3/4 yards of 1/8" or 1/4" ribbon (for the center)
1-1/4 yards from 1" to 2" (for petals)
Needle
thread to match the ribbon
Heavy gauge wire stem cut into 12" to 18" lengths
floral ribbon
Silk or velvet sheets.
glue

Directions:

1. To create the center of the flower, cut 1/8" or 1/4" ribbon into 6 pieces measuring 4" to 4-1/2".

2. Tie a knot midway between the ends. Fold the pieces of ribbon so that the knot is at the top.

3. Stitch all pieces together 1/2" from the end. The longest pieces (if any) should be worn in the center, with the shorter pieces sewn around.

4. For the petals, cut the petal tape into 6 pieces 7" long. Fold each 7" piece in half and sew a 1/2" stitch from both ends, sewing them together. Pull the running stitch, notice it and cut the threat.

5. Place three petals around the center and sew to the center 1/2" from the ends.

6. To attach the flower to the stem, apply glue to one end of the wire and attach it to the center of the stitched end of the flower. Let the glue dry completely.

7. Stretch the floral tape slightly and wrap about 1/2" of the sewn petals around the bottom of the flower. Continue wrapping the floral tape in a diagonal spiral down the stem, adding leaves (for your stems) as you like. After reaching the bottom of wire, just cut or tear tape.
