Recycled wood structure

Introduction

Determine dimensions and design

Determine the height of the work table by deciding if you want to stand or sit on it. The common height of a sitting workbench is 30 inches.

Step 1

Cut the wood

Cut four legs. Die the top of each leg. The workbench will be assembled in two large pieces. The front and rear legs are separately connected by cross pieces.

Step 2

Attach the legs

Using a square, line up one of the legs to a cross beam. At the top of the leg and crossbeam, pre-drill holes for the screws. Install screws.

Step 3

Hide lag bolts

On the leg side, pre-drill two holes for two 4-inch lag bolts. Insert lag bolts and round washers. Drive the lag bolts and washers further into the wood. Repeat for all four legs.

Stage 4

Attach the middle brackets

Attach support pieces to the middle of the legs. Repeat step 4 with square washers and 8” Retaining Screws to connect the front and back of the workbench. The lag bolts and washers will sit flush with the wood. Reinforce the intersection with bolts.

Step 5

Add the top bracket

Cross pieces are needed at the top of the workbench to support the poured concrete countertop. Attach those pieces with capscrews and square washers. Reinforce the intersection with bolts.
