In almost no time, and with the help of embroidery threads and hoops, your front door or interior wall will be ready for Halloween. This project can be made larger with items like hula hoops or even smaller with metal macramé rings.

Materials

  • large embroidery hoop
  • small embroidery hoop
  • hot glue and hot glue gun
  • hardened craft felt
  • black thread
  • scissors

Disassemble the embroidery hoops. With the larger hoop, use the one with the hardware. For the smaller hoop, use the plain hoop without the hardware. Set aside extra parts for another project.

Cover both rings completely with yarn. Join the rings together on one side so that the space between the two rings begins to look like a crescent moon. Fix with more string or hot glue..

Once you've attached the two yarn-covered hoops, start wrapping both hoops in a random pattern with more yarn.

There is no real rhyme, reason, or pattern to the design. Add as many or as few wraps as you like.

Decorations like felt stars and paper bats can be added to the wreath.

Hang on a wall or door. Consider making a series with all the lunar phases to hang all year.
